    The Sixth Annual Family Fireside Reading Challenge

    The Sixth Annual Family Fireside Reading Challenge begins on January 4! Children (12 and under) can participate by picking up a reading log at the library, and trying to read 10 books (or twenty chapters) each week. Weekly prize drawings will be held for children who finish each week's challenge.

    Afterschool Adventures at the Arnettsville Community Center

    Children in elementary school (kindergarten through fifth grade) are welcome to attend this free, literacy-based afterschool program at the Arnettsville Community Center*. Programs run from 3:30-5:00 p.m., and may involve stories, games, and crafts. Parents may register their children for each program by calling 278-7941, 278-9973, or 291-7425 ext. 137.

    The Cooks with the Books

    Fans of culinary mysteries are welcome to join us for discussions of great mystery solving chefs (both new and old). The author and date for the next meeting will be announced soon. Aspiring chefs (particularly those who've been trying out recipes from the current series) are encouraged to bring samples for the group to try.

    For the 2 and 3 year old sessions, children must have a parent or care giver with them. You must be registered to attend the sessions. Parents may register their children at the circulation desk or by calling the library at 291-7425.

    The Morgantown Public Library is sponsoring storytimes at the Star City Town Hall! Children and their parents are welcome to join us at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays to enjoy a variety of good books.
